Assessment & Evaluation P/J
This course will examine current policies and "best practices" related to assessment and evaluation as
informed by recent research and relevant Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, policy, and
supporting documents. Teacher Candidates will differentiate between assessment and
evaluation, and between marking, grading and reporting. Teacher Candidates will build
foundational pedagogical knowledge for evaluating and reporting student progress and achievement
using the Elementary Provincial Report Card and the Elementary Progress Report. The course will
also examine the role of large-scale assessments and develop knowledge and skills for analyzing
and interpreting their results . Course content will focus on evaluation and reporting policies and
practices appropriate for learners in Kindergarten to grade 6.
Prerequisites: Registration Status: B.Ed. Program.
